au Video Games Bernd 2025-12-12 04:20:08 No. 31020
The old thread died, very sad.
Total war Warhammer 40k was just announced. It looks like it is much further along in development than Medieval 3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVgCDqLTaJk
And also here is the Steam Page. https://store.steampowered.com/app/4199910/Total_War_WARHAMMER_40000/
I don't like the look of it.

>>31021 Saw that. I'm COOOOOMING
>>31021 I'm interested but TW games usually need 3-5 years after release to be playable.
>>31030 I don't like how close and bunched up the combat looks, it looks too RTSey if that makes sense.
Also there are no Sisters of Battle on release but maybe we will get female Space Marines and then it will be okay.
Games that let you do stages on easy/normal/difficult right away (no unlocking next tier required) but only reward you for/acknowledge completion of difficult/highest one you did and not the one(s) below it should go to hell. The lower ones DO have rewards, I'd just have do them again, despite proving I can manage worse. /blog
>>31278 I had the same impression. I'll still buy it day 1, but hopefully the scale won't be too rts-y.
Trailer for those who missed it:
Bought a second hand switch lite today r8
>>31389 With Mario kart 8 and the sega mega drive collection
Bernd did spend big recently, after being frugally occupied by elaborate yet free one-handed games. One game in particular was monitored by Bernd for a year now and never went into sale, but finally Bernd wields the... Nuclear Option! After Project Wingman already being such a banger, Bernd has high hopes and those update trailers feature a hell of an OST as well. Time to >FOX TWO! FOX TWO! while clearly firing a radar-guided missile.

Well, it seems this game treads on a middle ground between Ace Combat and realistic flight sims. Planes feature a lot more realistic loadouts, making return to base to rearm and refuel extensively necessary. Then again the game credited my first landing a success and I managed to engage enough thrust to scrape the airframe back to the hangars. But guided armaments feature long ranges over dozens of clicks, not the measly AC 1-3 kilometers. Seems as shooting targets earns cash which allows for better planes and loadouts per map while battling for strategic points like a conquest mode. The choppers can even load infantry squads and supplies, probably to take and fortify points?
>>31390 What Megadrive games did you get?
How is Nuclear Option controlled? Is it a sim? Sim-lite? Arcade? I only recently saw that future A-10 and puked a bit in my mouth.

>>31513 Sim-lite then I guess. Gotta select matching countermeasures, so either flares or ECM jamming, against matching missiles or even just radar locks. Still hardly managing to get by, most often I get up, manage to pop off my air to air munitions and subsequently get shot down myself once close enough to overall engagements. Taxiing with da bros can be seen as respawn timer, last game I tried out some of the heavier planes, but the long-range air to air they carry makes the airspace kinda deadly in comparison to Ace Combats walks in trench parks. Then while I was just skimming over available planes and read through weapon descriptions the chat suddenly got spammed that a dozen of nuclear warheads got launched, luckily it was one of my own bros. So I set the rest of the game just following the radar blips getting closer to the enemy base until all their production capabilities got eradicated, which won us the game. Given the 10 nukes that didn't get intercepted, scoring 23 out of 400 points for my team as bloody beginner is... acceptable :3
Also fuck yeah for that, the only bit of news of that recent gaming event thing that had my heart skip a beat. And a year or two after release, even the price will be right. Probably should get back to the AC school of flight first before trying to get into more delicate stuff.

Baby steps! You won't tear your wings off in this game, but turns out once planes don't turn like in AC, you gotta fly with a bit of foresight in mind. So free flight it is for now, no more bots in the skies. Took that heavy lifter for a spin, seems very forgiving while also teaching basic helicoptry, which as well, turns out mighty harder then often implied. If you try to yank the attack heli off the pad on full throttle, it will just turn out of control, gotta ease her up... Easier to imagine like space flight except with *spits* gravity in mind. Crossed the city nicely, did that "fuck yeah" overfly flares maneuver to please the people and aimed for the next airbase. Only missed the helipad by a click or so and even managed to deploy the APC, which would had successfully undeployed if the landing gear would have been engaged at this very moment. Baby steps!

Decided it's time to wield the big black bomber with nuclear armaments into the skies. First attempt against a carrier went so-so, all 8 strategic nukes got intercepted and during landing the tarmac was more a suggestion, as the plane quickly skid off it into a seemingly accepted parking position. Second try with tactical ballistic missiles was better. After effortlessly spiraling high in friendly territory, I snotted my nucular payload towards the enemies carrier escort and land hangar while enjoying a scenic route keeping a mountain range between the target an me. Their AA got saturated with the first few warheads and multiple hits on target and hopefully the adjacent hangars and carrier as well. RTB was reported nice and the runway was just overshot by maybe 50 meters, 100 max, no bluescreen to report for the maintenance crews today!

Doing a map wide conquest game, first round of jousting with cheap trainers went well, managed to offload my whole payload into enemy light ground attack planes and even scored a gun kill. Then managed to land under fire while deploying flares and finally found out the correct wheel brake button, had to take the road back to the hangars, but no more overshooting from here on out. Stupid tutorial implying B, when it's Y on my XBox controller. Then, cash vested, I tried sneaking a gunship to a AA emplacement, but the moment I popped over the ridge, 3 others had a lock on and the final screenshot even shows my cargo of ground attack WIESELs flung around wildly as I go down once against...

Oh look at that, strategic nukes unlocked while Bernd is chilling in ze hangar, time to load up. Bernd snuck close to the sea around the operational area, cucking a frigate for a radar lock on. Then he took up into the skies and unleashed all 4 radiation seeking missiles into the enemies rear base, emptying the wing pylons and reducing RCS. Had to do an unnecessary dive, as I was preoccupied managing ECM against desperate attempts to bring me down, which made me overshoot the bombs trajectory and once released, Bernd was too occupied taking pictures and got locked by all kind of stuff. But, with 1 of the nucular bombs going off, the whole base was eradicated on Börnds behalf :3 This should win us the round while Bernd enjoys the sunset from his Lauer-seat far above.
